Participating Florida 211 Networks centers offer transportation to needed community services through United Way’s partnership with Lyft.
Closing transportation gaps caused by poverty, systemic racism, and other inequities is critical for securing employment, accessing medical care, obtaining healthy food, and dealing with emergencies and crises.
Ride United was established in 2018 to support United Ways and 211s in reducing transportation barriers to help people in need across the United States.
In 2023 alone, Florida 211 centers provided 7,642 rides including 2,937 for health 1,272 for employment, 608 for food, and 529 for housing.
Participating Florida 211 Network centers collaborate with food pantries, grocery stores, restaurants, schools, and various stakeholders to meet the pressing needs of individuals who need food and essential item deliveries. Using a secure online system, 211 submits pick-up and drop-off details to DoorDash to schedule deliveries at a discounted rate.
In 2023 alone, Florida 211 centers coordinated 16,960 deliveries, representing 239,400 estimated meals through Last Mile Delivery.
AARP Florida joined forces with 211 and United Way Worldwide to connect residents with trained, compassionate people in their communities who can provide caregiving help any day, any time. People who provide care for someone—like a family member or friend—need care, too, but navigating available services or programs that can help can be a challenge. Through 211, caregivers can talk to real people in their community to find local resources for loved ones and themselves, too.

Participating Florida 211 Centers serve as affiliates of the Florida Help Me Grow program, providing care coordinators to help answer any questions you have about child development, customized support and connection to community services, free developmental and behavioral screenings, parenting tips and developmental activities.
